The Chorus of Opera North has been an integral part of the Company since its foundation in 1978 and has established an enviable reputation for quality and versatility in its own right.

It has appeared with the Company all over the north of England and regular appearances at the Edinburgh Festival. Foreign tours have included Weber's Oberon at La Fenice, Venice, in 1987; Aida, Midsummer Marriage and Macbeth at the Wiesbaden May Festivals; Boris Godunov in Dortmund; Attila and Billy Budd in Rotterdam; the world première of Benedict Mason's Playing Away in Munich.
