THE OPERA NORTH FUND
CRUCIAL FUNDING SINCE 1996

Do you want to make a real financial difference to Opera North?

The Opera North Fund plays a crucial part in our funding. Since its inception as the Opera North Foundation in 1996, individual donors have helped to bring diverse new productions to audiences across the region, as well as reaching out to over 3,500 children and young people through an extensive programme of 20 educational projects each year.

Opera North is proud of its reputation for artistic excellence and innovation. We need to raise over £1 million each year to supplement Box Office and grant income. We depend on annual support from you to maintain the superlative quality of our work.

Your gift will ensure that Opera North continues to present a volume and diversity of excellent work that ticket and grant income alone would not allow.

Click to download a regular giving donation form (PDF) or contact our Donor Development Manager by telephone 0113 223 3513 or by email to find out about our current Special Appeals.

Individual support has made a huge difference to all these areas:

Major new productions
Pinocchio (Autumn 2007)

Jonathan Dove and playwright Alasdair Middleton turn Carlo Collodi's classic Pinocchio into a fantastical musical story, which recaptures the weird and wonderful qualities of the 1880's original.

Madama Butterfly (Autumn 2007)
Opera North's first new production of Madama Butterfly in more than a decade allies sombre beauty with realism to intensify the emotion in an already heartbreaking opera.

Katya Kabanova (Spring 2007)
' …Opera North's new production is by any standards very fine. Tim Albery's staging is blessedly free from gimmickry and firmly focused on character and clarity rather than concept.'
The Daily Telegraph, April 2007. Find out more about the opera.

Education work
Each year Opera North's dynamic education team works with 3,500 young people on creative music projects in Leeds, Nottingham, Newcastle, Manchester, Hull, Sheffield and the surrounding regions.

We are also planning to create a new Education and Outreach Zone in Leeds Grand Theatre where new projects, performances and exhibitions will take place, along with an expanded programme of outreach activities in the community.
