It’s apparently ‘official’ - women are bigger cheats than men!

To open the autumn season’s comedy opera Così fan tutte (translated as ‘All women are like that’) with a bit of light hearted fun, Opera North ran a survey of 3,000 adults, looking at the nature of infidelity.

Given that Mozart’s opera was written in the 18th century, the poll showed that the subject of infidelity is still as relevant to society today – although codes of moral conduct are not the same. With four in ten women admitting they have cheated, compared to three in ten men, the poll suggests that women consider flirtatious behaviour as harmless and can easily forgive themselves the odd ‘indiscretion’.
