March '10 Opera North sings Leeds’ praises in Barcelona
Opera North joined dance companies, Phoenix and Northern Ballet Theatre, for an exciting performance in Barcelona last week, to showcase Leeds’ rich artistic vein to their Spanish sector colleagues.
Regular Opera North performers, Yvonne Howard and Rafael Rojas, sang one of Puccini’s most beautiful love-duets from Opera North’s celebrated production of Tosca directed by Christopher Alden.
The performance was part of the Leeds in Barcelona Festival of Commerce and Culture, which aims to increase the profile of Leeds in Barcelona and wider Catalonia and forge a long-lasting partnership between the two cities.
In total over 100 city professionals visited, including hi-tech manufacturers, lawyers, financiers and officials, to demonstrate the value of their industry to their respective sector counterparts.
