Work Experience

If you are interested in the Arts and want to learn more about an exciting and dynamic opera company, Opera North is a good place to start.  We offer six one-week placements every year to people looking to gain an insight into the different roles and activities of the Company, including marketing, education and fundraising.

All placements focus on administration experience only, but will give you an opportunity to observe and assist in any key departments.

In addition to the actual work experience, you will be offered:

- An informative presentation about Opera North
- A tour of Leeds Grand Theatre
- A tour of the Opera North Centre
and
- Subject to timetable, you could have the opportunity to observe Opera North rehearsals and performances.

Assessment

We are keen to evaluate both your and our performances on placement. We can offer work-based assessments relating to your relevant study and experience. In return we would also like to receive feedback from you, to help us improve and continually develop our work experience programme.

We receive a lot of placement requests each year so it is important that you to refer to the dates on the timetable below when applying.

Work Experience Timetable

The dates available for work experience are shown below. Opera North is unable to offer placements during the summer months, June to August, as this is the Company holiday period.

Please Note:
- Opera North will only offer work placements on the dates stated in the work experience timetable.
- All applicants will be asked to complete a confidentiality agreement before beginning their placement.
- Applications by letter or CV will not be accepted without a completed application form.
- All work experience applicants will be interviewed prior to a placement being offered.
