The Howard Assembly Room at Opera North is recruiting further volunteers to join its established team of Event Hosts. This is an exciting opportunity to become involved in the Howard Assembly Room’s programme of events, which includes gigs, classical music recitals, film screenings, talks, workshops, and visual arts installations. Duties are varied and include welcoming guests, assisting the general public and selling merchandise. Benefits include working within a professional arts environment and seeing performances for free. Excellent interpersonal skills and flexible working hours are required.
Shifts are mainly evening and weekends. Applicants should be prepared to commit to at least three shifts before Christmas 2014.

Opera North Education has a select few opportunities for passionate and talented movement trainees to join and lead unique Opera North Education projects including an immersive, social impact project for KS1-2 and a project for young people who face communication difficulties and learning disabilities.
We are also keen to hear from experience leaders living locally within a 50 mile radius, within commutable distance to Leeds and/or Hull.

If you are interested in the Arts and want to learn more about an exciting and dynamic opera company, Opera North is a good place to start. We offer six one-week placements every year to people looking to gain an insight into the different roles and activities of the Company, including marketing, education and fundraising. All placements focus on administration experience only, but will give you an opportunity to observe and assist in any key departments.
In addition to the actual work experience, you will be offered:
- An informative presentation about Opera North
- A tour of Leeds Grand Theatre
- A tour of the Opera North Centre
- Subject to timetable, you could have the opportunity to observe Opera North rehearsals and performances.
We are keen to evaluate both your and our performances on placement. We can offer work-based assessments relating to your relevant study and experience. In return we would also like to receive feedback from you, to help us improve and continually develop our work experience programme.

Every year Opera North Education offers two one-week work experience placements to young people aged 16 or over. These are in addition to the company wide work experience scheme and offer the opportunity to work solely within the remit of Opera North Education.
Successful applicants will be given the opportunity to see the work of Opera North Education and gain working knowledge of the preparation involved in this delivery. There may be opportunity to visit our work off site with a member of the team if appropriate. Tasks include general office and project administration eg: inputting data, assisting with mailings and resources, compiling music packs, assisting in the preparation for project delivery sessions, attendance and participation in the sessions as appropriate.
