OPERA NORTH EDUCATION

EVERY YEAR OVER 3,000 YOUNG PEOPLE FROM
AROUND THE NORTH OF ENGLAND TAKE PART
IN OUR CREATIVE PROJECTS

Opera North Education delivers a wide range of workshops, creative projects and training opportunities for individuals, teachers, schools, colleges and community groups throughout the North of England.

We believe that everyone can enjoy and respond to the diverse range of work the company produces and we are committed to finding new ways for individuals to engage with the art form of opera.

Our projects involve young people from primary, secondary and special needs schools and FE and HE Colleges. We also develop long term programmes and residencies which take place outside of school settings and with community groups.

WHAT WE DO

Exploring Opera

Repertoire based workshops and projects for schools and students in Further/Higher Education. Participants work with professionals
to explore existing opera and are encouraged to engage critically with the art form.

Creative and Tailored Projects

We deliver a range of projects that are designed for specific groups. This programme includes out-of-schools projects for young people, work with special needs groups and the Kirklees orchestral residency.

Long Term Residencies

We have been reaching out into the Little London community in Leeds with a long-term residency which explores the impact opera and music can have on schools, young people and their families.

Get Involved

Opera North Education works with schools, young people and artists in a number of ways. Our programme includes training opportunities for teachers and artists, as well as resource packs which support and complement music activity in the classroom.
