From January 2010 Opera North Education has been working in partnership with the West Yorkshire Probation Board to deliver ‘Limelight’, a project which explores the role the arts can play in the rehabilitation of adult past offenders.
The partnership aims to develop skills and motivation, helping participants discover new pathways to education, employment and training.
Participants take part in two ten-week training programmes run by our artists, develop and stage their own works and attend main stage productions to fire inspiration and fuel their determination to succeed.
One member of the group has already undertaken paid employment with the Opera North technical department, demonstrating the kind of success that this project can impart.
