An Arts Partnership for the Homeless

Since April 2009 we have been working in partnership with Streetwise Opera to deliver a weekly music programme at the Booth Centre in Manchester.

The partnership aims to use music as a tool to help homeless people move forward in their lives, building their confidence, creativity, skills and social networks.

For members of the group, the workshops are a constant, reliable activity to look forward to every week of the year; a safe environment where they can participate, experiment and be creative at a time when the rest of their lives may be difficult, chaotic and uncertain.

The charity currently works in 11 different homeless centres across Britain, involving over 500 music and drama workshops each year, regular performances, theatre trips and a work placement scheme for participants.

To date, positive outcomes have included participants enjoying more independent living, enrolling in education and training and getting back in touch with estranged family.
