Opera Direct: Further and Higher Education

One day workshops for university students with artists from current main stage productions.

In January 2009 students from Leeds, Manchester and Newcastle universities worked with a team of five artists, including singers from the main cast, to explore Opera North’s new production Skin Deep the comedy operetta about plastic surgery.

The workshops involved practical experience of the range of disciplines that are involved in creating an opera, alongside discussion of research and critical analysis of the new production. Each student received a ticket to see the production at their local venue.
