Paul Watkins, a regular conductor for the concerts, will return to his roots to play Elgar’s Cello Concerto in E minor, which he passionately performed at the First Night of the Proms in 2007. Also being performed is Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on a Theme of Thomas Tallis and William Walton’s Symphony No.1 in B by the Orchestra of Opera North, conducted by Bramwell Tovey.
