Prize winners from the 2009 Leeds international Piano and Conducting competitions will join the Orchestra of Opera North and music students from the University of Huddersfield to perform an evening of light music from Beethoven and Holst.
The Planets is Holst’s most popular work; it uses unusual instruments, such as, a xylophone, tubular bells and an organ and is inspired by horoscopes and how the planets influence the human psyche. Beethoven’s Fidelio Overture, taken from his opera of the same name and Piano Concerto No.4 in G will also feature.
