The Chorus of Opera North are celebrating the life of one of Britain's greatest composers by performing in Grimes on the Beach as part of the Aldeburgh Festival. 

Opera North, as part of the Arts Council England funded Arts Fundraising and Philanthropy Consortium, has today started a search for entrepreneurially-minded graduates to be part of its inaugural fundraising fellowship programme.

Opera North recently hosted the launch of Travels With My Opera Glasses, a new book written by Anthony Ogus which retells the author's experiences of watching opera around the globe.

Opera North has published its 2011 – 2012 Review which takes stock of its work and achievements over the past 18 months. 

During the course of the review period Opera North was responsible for 337 public performances in 28 different venues and played to a geographically and socially broad audience of more the 237,000. This included more than 22,000 children, young people and adults through educational activities in communities across the North.

Opera North has been nominated in two categories of the inaugural International Opera Awards. The Company’s production of Norma has been nominated the new production category and Richard Farnes, Opera North’s music director, has been nominated in the conductor category.
