RNCM President Sir Willard White is among four of the most acclaimed names in opera who are supporting the new partnership between Opera North and Royal Northern College of Music.

Sir Willard White, photographed above during an RNCM masterclass with mezzo soprano Kathryn Rudge (currently perfoming as Sesto in Opera North's Giulio Cesare), joins Joan Rodgers CBE, Sir John Tomlinson and Alice Coote as patrons of the project aimed at nurturing musical talent in the North.

All four singers have a strong association with the RNCM. Sir Willard White was appointed President in 2008; Joan Rodgers is International Chair in Singing; Alice Coote studied at postgraduate level in the early 1990s; and Sir John Tomlinson studied at the Royal Manchester College of Music.
