‘Beautifully nuanced…It's quite gorgeous.’ BBC Music on the Brodsky Quartet playing Debussy’s String Quartet.
The Brodsky Quartet is one of the leading ensembles on the international chamber music scene.
To celebrate their 40th birthday they will perform repertoire particularly close to their hearts. A lyrical reading of Debussy’s string quartet is at the heart of the programme, surrounded by varied works by Respighi and Puccini, whose music for chamber strings the quartet has championed for many years.
The evening is completed with Purcell’s Chaconne, Schubert’s Quartettsatz and At the Grave of Beethoven by Tanaka, which was written specially for the Brodskys.
Programme:
Purcell Chaconne in G minor
Tanaka At the Grave of Beethoven
Respighi String Quartet 'Dorico'
Interval
Schubert Quartettsatz D703
Puccini Crisantemi
Debussy Quartet
