Best known for his long-standing musical partnership with Tom Waits, Marc Ribot has also worked with the likes of Robert Plant and Elvis Costello. In this rare UK performance, he plays from his album Silent Movies, which finds him taking another surprising step in his 25 year career. Replete with beautiful melodies and quietly wistful playing, this programme is filled with gentle, haunting songs that evoke the feel of a different time.
This is an evening of film music reimagined: some pieces are from Ribot’s library of never-used film scores and others are film-inspired compositions. The result is music of gorgeous contemplation that lingers on the mind long after it is over.
