Legendary Italian film composer Nino Rota’s music featured some of the most famous themes in film history, including The Godfather and Fellini’s La Strada.
In this one-off UK show, the world-famous accordianist Richard Galliano reinterprets them as evocative and expansive jazz suites in partnership with his long term collaborator, the extraordinary saxophone and clarinet player John Surman.
Through their music, Galliano and Rota share an acute sense of melody and an almost uncanny knack of revealing and unfurling the universal elements in popular forms. Solo sets from both Galliano and John Surman complete the programme in what promises to be a unique evening in Leeds.
