Opera North | Leeds Grand Theatre | Funding | Overview

AN AMAZING THING IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN,
BE PART OF IT

If there was ever a time when teamwork was the key to unlocking a vision, then this is it. Opera North, Leeds Grand Theatre and Leeds City Council are working in close partnership to deliver this hugely ambitious project. With the additional support of individuals, communities, audiences and businesses across the region and beyond, we can make it an even greater success.

You can play a fundamental role in securing the future of the Grand Theatre and Opera North, and in enriching lives for many years to come through the magic of music and theatre. Please see the Transformation website for more details.

The Financial Picture

We are delighted to report that the Transformation fundraising campaign has got off to a strong start. Arts Council England and Leeds City Council have demonstrated their confidence and support by committing £15 million and £5.5 million respectively. This, complemented by almost £1 million already raised from individuals and trusts, means that we already have 70% of the total target of £31.5 million in place.

The remaining balance, £10 million, is being addressed with a combination of bids to other public agencies, including The Heritage Lottery Fund and Yorkshire Forward, and the Transformation Fundraising Campaign.

The Opera North and Grand Theatre Development Trust has been established to manage the delivery of the Transformation project. The Trust has charitable status and so will benefit from tax advantages under the Government's Gift aid scheme. The fundraising campaign will led by a powerful combination of committed individuals from the Board and Management of Opera North and leading members of the community and Leeds City Council, together with esteemed artists from both on stage and behind the scenes of opera, theatre and music.

We will gladly discuss your requirements and queries. Please contact Rory Wardroper, Head of the Transformation Campaign on 0113 399 3206 or email transformation@operanorth.co.uk.

How you can help Transformation
There are many different ways of supporting the Transformation Campaign. The Campaign qualifies as an exempt Charity, so it is possible (if you pay UK income tax) to boost the value of your donation and reduce your income tax liability at the same time.

All gifts to the campaign are welcome and fully acknowledged, from a modest donation to a major benefaction. You can support the appeal at a level which suits you best.   We have developed a graduated scale of giving, with the opportunity to spread the cost as a pledge over four years. There are associated benefits at each level.

The most effective ways of giving are: -

  • Gift Aid
  • Donating Shares
  • Transfer of Assets
  • Company Giving
  • Payroll Giving

We will gladly discuss your requirements and queries. Please contact Rory Wardroper, Head of the Transformation Campaign on 0113 399 3206 or email transformation@operanorth.co.uk. You can also donate online.
