Opera North is based in Leeds and tours each season to its core venues in Salford Quays, Newcastle and Nottingham. The Company also occasionally tours internationally and to other destinations such as London, Belfast and Glasgow.

The Grand Theatre - Leeds

The Grand Theatre opened in 1878 and celebrated its 130th anniversary in 2008. When it opened it was billed as ‘a theatre for spectacle and opera’. It is widely regarded as a major milestone in Victorian theatre building. The theatre is in the northern quarter of Leeds city centre.

Howard Assembly Room - Leeds

The former Assembly Rooms have now been fully restored to their original Victorian splendour, with a barrel vaulted ceiling, arched windows and gothic motif decoration creating a new arts venue for Leeds the Howard Assembly Room at Opera North. The venue has a capacity of 350 and is next door to the Leeds Grand Theatre.

Dewsbury Town Hall - Dewsbury

Dewsbury Town Hall was opened on September 17 1889. Designed by local architects Holtom & Fox, it is an imposing mixed Renaissance style building which overlooks the Market Place and is topped by a clock tower with ornate cupola. Dewsbury Town Hall presents a significant number of concerts and Dewsbury is thought to be the smallest town in the country to host a classical concert season.

Huddersfield Town Hall - Huddersfield

The building was designed by John H Abbey and was built in two stages between 1875 and 1881. This imposing building is 'classic Italianate' in style, defined by the rounded heads to the windows, the symmetrical design and the 'rustication' of the stonework of the base of the building. The interior boasts a lavishly decorated concert hall which seats 1000 people. It is home to the internationally renowned Huddersfield Choral Society and houses an impressive Father Willis organ. The town hall has been used for numerous recordings of classical and choral music due to its excellent acoustics.

Grand Opera House - Belfast

Queen’s Hall Arts Centre - Hexham

The Queen’s Hall is a magnificent early Victorian building which faces Hexham Abbey (dating from 647AD). Temple Newsam - Leeds

 Temple Newsam is one of the great historic estates in England. Set within over 1500 acres of parkland, woodland and farmland landscaped by Capability Brown in the 18th century, it is a magnificent Tudor–Jacobean mansion. Famous as the birthplace of Lord Darnley and home to the Ingram family for over 300 years, the mansion houses rich collections of works of art. The garden is renowned for its Rhododendron and Azalea walk and features the National Plant Collections of Delphinium, Phlox and Aster novi–belgii. Europe's largest working Rare Breeds Farm, with over 400 animals, is set within the original estate Home Farm.
