Great production, we enjoyed it hugely, thank you. But, where was Elvira's maid? Did she have the night off?? Pity, because the charming 'vieni alla finestra' lost its punch, as a Harvey Wein..n special, sung by the Don, just slumped against the scenery! Opera North response: Hi Jean. Very glad you enjoyed! Because Elvira's maid is not a named role in the score, it is not unusual in productions of the opera to not actually cast an actor as the 'maid'.

Great production, sublime music, though I would have said Don Giovanni ought to have been dropped down from his ariel strings, into the opened trap door, with flames of hell flickering up to consume him, rather than ascending up to heaven !

Wonderful Dalla sua pace last night; what happened to Il mio Tesoro. 24th Feb Opera North response: Hello Mike. As you may know, 'Dalla sua pace' was written for the 1788 Vienna premiere of Don Giovanni to replace 'Il mio tesoro' as an aria for Don Ottavio. Although some productions now may choose to include both arias, we have chosen 'Dalla sua pace' for Don Ottavio as per the Vienna version.
