Opera North is set to perform at the opening of The Hepworth Wakefield on 21 May in a series of performances at three different locations around the gallery between 6-8pm.

Barbara Hepworth had a passion for English music and the repertoire for the performances has been created by Opera North Projects to highlight this. Regular musician at Opera North, Matt Sharp will feature alongside established violinist Gina McCormack. Other performances include internationally acclaimed soprano Bibi Heal, Flautist Fiona Slominska and guitarist Tom McKinney together with tenor Kevin Kyle.

The Hepworth Wakefield is Yorkshire’s landmark gallery for the visual arts. Opening on 21 May 2011 the gallery is located on Wakefield’s historic waterfront. It is the largest purpose-built exhibition space outside of London and presents exhibitions by contemporary artists, an events programme of workshops, family activities, talks and tours and also operates as a unique conference venue.
