Opera North takes a taste of Yorkshire to London

Opera North sets off on tour this week, part supported and championed by regional based companies Welcome to Yorkshire and Yorkshire auctioneers Tennants. Opening in Nottingham this week, followed by Newcastle and Manchester, the Company then heads south to London after an absence of nearly three years.

In a new partnership with the Barbican, there will be a Yorkshire take-over for one week as Opera North showcases its work in the City. Welcome to Yorkshire and Tennants Auctioneers are both supporting Opera North to transport over 150 singers and musicians to perform three productions over five dates, from 22 November.

Opera North is travelling south with Gilbert & Sullivan’s Ruddigore, Tchaikovsky’s The Queen of Spades and The Girl I Left Behind Me.

Gary Verity, Chief Executive, Welcome to Yorkshire
“This is another wonderful example of the talent and quality of work being produced from the Yorkshire region and we are pleased to have the opportunity to support Opera North’s tour to the Barbican. This is a bold and exciting time for Opera North and we are delighted to be championing such a dynamic organisation.”

Rodney Tennant, Owner, Tennant’s Auctioneers
“Opera North produces work of the highest calibre and we are pleased that we can help ensure audiences in London have the same opportunities to see these quality performances never before seen in the capital.”
