Opera North will take part in the Sue Ryder Yorkshire Women of Achievement Awards in May as the charity celebrate their 25th Anniversary.
The awards ceremony is the event of the season, with over 400 guests attending to celebrate women’s achievements. The event is being held at Saviles Hall at the Royal Armouries in Leeds. Awards such as, Business Award, Education Award, Jane Tomlinson Award for Courage and Lifetime Achievement Award, recognise and celebrate the achievements of Yorkshire women. The event raises money for Leeds based Wheatfields Hospice, a local specialist care facility for people with life-limiting illnesses, last year the event raised over £20,000.
This year singers from Opera North will provide a short burst of entertainment ahead of the overall winner announcement. They will perform extracts from the Ruddigore by Gilbert & Sullivan, a light-hearted and witty Burlesque Victorian melodrama.
To further support the event and the cause, we are giving away 25 pairs of tickets to a selection of performances over the next year.
The awards ceremony will be held on Friday 20 May at Saviles Hall, Royal Armouries, Leeds at 11:45 - 15:30.
