The Howard Assembly Room Presents a Feast of Classical Music as Part of Its Autumn Season

Spring may have only just sprung but later this year the Howard Assembly Room presents an enchanting selection of classical delights as part of its Autumn season.

This season welcomes a selection of incredible ensembles starting with The Borodin Quartet. Undoubtedly one of the world’s finest chamber music ensembles celebrate their 70th anniversary year with a first time appearance at Opera North’s wonderful venue.

Opera North present two new collaborations this season beginning with the return of The Brodsky Quartet performing the last Quartets: Beethoven and Shostakovich. This collaboration brings together the performance with beautifully atmospheric lighting which reflects and responds to the Brodsky’s interpretation of these final works, a performance not to be missed.

Opera North also presents a collaboration with Leeds Lieder, presenting Kate Royal and Joseph Middleton in a programme which includes Mahler’s tender and direct Rückert Lieder. Rounding off the classical ensembles are Vox Luminis with a performance centered around the sublime songs of English composer Henry Purcell.

Also making a long awaited return is first class pianist Freddy Kempf, bringing his particularly unique brand of subtle yet explosive performance back to the Howard Assembly Room.

And finally we bring you British tenor Mark Padmore and Simon Lepper, the celebrated pianist, who are performing a delightful concert of songs by Schubert, Schumann, Brahms and Wolf.

Tickets for Classical events in the Howard Assembly Room go on sale on Tuesday 28th April at 12pm.
