Our very first visit to the opera for our 37th anniversary and we absolutely loved it. The music was superb and the choirs were brilliant. Bring on the next one.

Superb production with immense impact. Transforms what is basically a pantomime fairy story into an almost unstoppable sonic avalanche, both vocally and orchestrally. I would encourage Opera North to keep pushing forward with this style of stripped-down concert presentation that distils the essence of opera: sound, acting and emotional truth. Opera for the 21st century?

Not my favourite opera, not my favourite venue, not keen on this production! Our seats were in the Gallery and at least half of the singing was drowned out by the orchestra. And when the orchestra and choir were at full tilt the acoustics produced a distorted blur of sound. Will probably avoid any future performances at Leeds Town Hall, much prefer the Grand. Opera North response: Thank you for your feedback, we’re sorry to hear of your disappointments, but hope that there were some aspects of the performance that you did enjoy. We will bear your comments in mind, and hope to welcome you back to future performance that you find more enjoyable.
