Opera North’s Spring 13 season will see the Company once again do what it does best – discovering the best ways of producing new and exciting works which engage audiences of all ages and tastes.
With a festival feel, we are excited to present three very different works - all new productions - in three very different venues. The season begins in April with Handel’s mighty oratorio, Joshua, at Leeds Grand Theatre, truly doing justice to the work’s theatrical nature. Trailing our ‘Festival of Britten’ repertoire later in the year, the composer’s chamber comedy, Albert Herring, featuring Dame Josephine Barstow as Lady Billows, will be staged in the intimate space of the Howard Assembly Room. And Leeds Town Hall will host the next thrilling instalment of Wagner’s Ring Cycle – Siegfried, with Richard Farnes at the helm.
