‹ Back to What's On The Orchestra of Opera North: National Hero

4 Oct 2012

We launch the season in Dewsbury with one of the most famous overtures of all time and the symphony which established Sibelius as a major composer on the world stage and a national hero in his home country. The music of Sibelius has communicative power which is best experienced live and this work is sure to have an overwhelming impact in the Dewsbury acoustic. We welcome Kirklees favourite Ian Buckle back to perform the Beethoven concerto most infused with the spirit of Mozart.

Johann Strauss II Die Fledermaus: Overture
Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 3 in C minor
Sibelius Symphony No. 2 in D

Conductor: Justin Doyle
Piano: Ian Buckle

Before most of our concerts this year we’ll be Talking Music with some of our soloists and conductors, and members of the orchestra. Talking Music starts at 6.40pm. We do hope you'll be able to join us for some lively discussion.
