Opera North Orchestra Academy : Émigrés and New Worlds

Join us for the final concert of the second-ever Opera North Orchestra Academy – Opera North’s summer youth orchestra of outstanding young musicians from across the UK.

Conductor Lee Reynolds takes the reigns to a new world, leading the Academy Orchestra through an exciting programme of Korngold’s cinematic Theme and Variations, Kurt Weill’s rarely performed Second Symphony, and a selection of arias from Puccini’s La Boheme and Madam Butterfly and Kurt Weill’s Street Scene. To round up the sound world the Academy Orchestra will perform an unusual arrangement of Gershwin’s I Got Rhythm.
