Orchestra of Opera North: The Gruffalo's Child and The Highway Rat

This event has passed.

Our family event at the Kirklees Concert Season is a double-bill of Julia Donaldson creations accompanied live by René Aubry’s original orchestral scores.

When the Gruffalo’s child disobeys her father’s warning, our heroine sets out on a magical adventure into the deep, dark wood. This delightful sequel to The Gruffalo is a number one best-seller, and a must for the Christmas calendar.

Premièred last year on BBC One on Christmas Day, The Highway Rat tells the tale of a ravenous rat who, craving all sweet things, tears along the highway searching for sugary treats to steal, until his sweet tooth leads him to a sticky end. With the voices of David Tennant (Highway Rat), Rob Brydon (Narrator), Frances de la Tour (Rabbit), Tom Hollander (Squirrel), Nina Sosanya (Duck) and Husaam Kiani (Kitten).

This enchanting concert is a wonderful panto alternative that’s perfect for all ages.
