The Paper Cinema

Saturday 21 October 2023

This event has passed.

Through clever use of puppets, and practical effects, The Paper Cinema create a world of ghosts, dreams and the supernatural unlike any you’ve seen before.

Hand cut ink drawings become larger than life characters in a selection of ghostly folk stories that include the dream-like Night Flyer, humorous Devil in Cornwall, spooky Wanderer and Edgar Allan Poe’s King Pest. Two puppeteers will bring them to life in front of our eyes using just what fits into a suitcase; a few cameras, some beakers of water and ink, and a projector.

They are joined by a multi-instrumentalist making both acoustic and electronic sounds, all coming together for a uniquely atmospheric performance.
