Howard Assembly Room

As part of our Music Works redevelopment project, the Howard Assembly Room is temporarily closed for a major refurbishment.

Over the last ten years, we have championed the finest artists from across the globe and hosted a wide array of film screenings, talks and performances. We look forward to reopening in 2021 with even more performances, our own bar and restaurant and a dedicated entrance, with a swish new atrium.

In the meantime, we will continue to commission performances across the country as well as in Leeds. Find out more about upcoming events below or catch up on The Lullaby Project featuring performances from some of the brilliant guests we have hosted. If you would like to keep up to date with everything that’s going on whilst we’re closed, sign up to our newsletter or follow us on Facebook and Twitter.

Music Works: more live music

The £18 million Music Works redevelopment will increase the number of performances in the Howard Assembly Room, and give the venue a dedicated public entrance, with a beautiful glass atrium, direct stairs and lift access and improved front of house facilities.

We will bring more of the best global musicians and artists to Leeds each year, creating a diverse calendar of jazz, world music, folk, classical concerts, children’s opera, talks, film and installations.

  • Increased number of performances in the Howard Assembly Room
  • A dedicated entrance
  • An open, welcoming building that is fully accessible at all levels
  • New public spaces and a beautiful atrium
  • A new restaurant and bar
