This event has passed.
Storytelling, dance and music come together in The Fairy Garden, a family-friendly show for children aged 5-12.
Built around the enchanting melodies of composer Maurice Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite (1910), Opera North pianists David Cowan and Annette Saunders will play 4-handed on the Howard Assembly Room’s iconic Steinway piano. Joined by storyteller Marco Woolf and some of the UK’s leading contemporary dancers, they will delve into a wonderland of fairy tales.
Sleeping Beauty, Tom Thumb, The Green Serpent and Beauty and the Beast will be reimagined before Woolf presents a brand new story ‘The Fairy Garden’ to accompany the final movement of Ravel’s iconic suite.
This festive foray weaves story, movement and music in a welcoming and inclusive show.
Please note, there will be relaxed seating with mats and cushions on the floor together with tiered seats.
