Louisiana bluesman Robert Finley brings his latest critically acclaimed album to the Howard Assembly Room in May.
Finley’s 2026 tour follows the release of Hallelujah! Don’t Let The Devil Fool Ya in October and an appearance on the BBC’s Later… with Jools Holland in November.
His latest record was produced in Nashville by long-time collaborator Dan Auerbach, best known as the guitarist and vocalist in the Black Keys. It also features guitarist Barrie Cadogan (Primal Scream, The The) and drummer Malcolm Catto (The Heliocentrics, Madlib, DJ Shadow).
Hallelujah! was fully improvised in one single day, bottling the spirit of Finley’s live performances and gospel-tinged soul, and includes vocal support from his daughter, singer Christy Johnson.
Finley released his first record at the age of 62, having been deemed legally blind and forced to retire from carpentry. He later appeared on America’s Got Talent in 2019, reaching the semi-finals before releasing the autobiographical Sharecropper’s Son in 2021, and Black Bayou in 2023.
Now in his eighth decade, Finley continues to impress critics, with SPIN declaring him “A master musician and entertainer who only gets better with time” and UNCUT noting that his work is “Clearly just getting started”.
