HAR Late: A Swing Dance

A Swing Dance extravaganza featuring the dynamic sounds of David Broad and the Meanwood Valley Stompers.

Kick off your evening with a taster class from Swing Dance Leeds, with all ticket holders welcome to join in. Then practice your moves and stomp the night away with David Broad and the Meanwood Valley Stompers, before rounding off your Saturday with one of Leeds’ best-loved DJs: jazz, funk and soul extraordinaire Gip Dammone (part of Dig! Family).

Experts in vintage styles from the 20s, 30s and 40s, Swing Dance Leeds will get you up dancing with a fun and accessible taster class. Founded in 2011 and having performed for a range of high-profile clients (including teaching Cillian Murphy and Annabelle Wallis to Charleston for Peaky Blinders!), the class will cater for all levels of ability.

David Broad and the Meanwood Valley Stompers meanwhile are no strangers to swing dance, playing countless events across the North of England including Lindy Fridays in Leeds. As a trio of dancers themselves, their sound is sure to get the room moving as they draw from early blues, jazz and folk.

Gip Dammone is a veteran DJ and jazz maestro with deep roots in Leeds’ music scene. As part of Dig! Family, Gip ran parties like DIG!, The Cooker, Yardbird Suite and Casa Latina, bringing acts from all over the world to the city.
