Brudenell presents: Arab Strap
Book NowBlending indie rock, electronic beats and raw, spoken-word vocals, Arab Strap return with their latest album, Half-told Tales, marking 30 years of music-making.
Arab Strap are known for their pioneering blend of indie rock, electronic beats and raw, spoken-word vocals. The Scottish duo – formed of Aidan Moffat and Malcolm Middleton, return with their latest album, Half-told Tales, marking 30 years of music-making.
After a ten-year hiatus that ended in 2016, the band’s newest work presents a shift from their traditionally darker material, introducing a sense of hope, solidarity and musical experimentation.
The album showcases a band exploring new sonic territory – a distinct mix that spans post-rock, folk and electronica. New tracks venture from the heavy riffs and saxophone of I Get Noise to the upbeat rhythms of You You You, a track the band describes as a “disco-metal incantation” designed to bring forward a spirit of hope.
Lyrically, the music balances the personal with the political. Moffat tackles contemporary anxieties – from the weight of newsfeeds and social media wellness trends to reflections on fatherhood and the passing of time – whilst anchoring the songs in optimism.
