100% Mambo, Salsa & Afro-Cuban Jazz Fire!
Book NowAfter two years since their last performance at Howard Assembly Room, the UK’s top mambo/classic salsa ensemble Orchestra Mambo International returns to launch their debut album ¡APUNTALO!.
Expect a hot night of classic mambo, salsa and Afro-Cuban jazz to make even the two left feet crowd dance!
The evening stars a salsa dance class from Sabroso Dance Company and UK salsa legend DJ Lubi on the decks.
Following is Orchestra Mambo International playing classic Latin dance music inspired by music legends such as Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, Machito, Eddie Palmieri and the Fania Allstars. Featuring heavy rhythms, hot brass, they’ll play a mix of original compositions from their debut album, alongside some mambo and salsa classics.
Orchestra Mambo international is a 13 piece ensemble featuring musicians from Venezuela, Cuba, Colombia, Spain and Brazil, alongside British musicians, a truly international line up. A meeting of the generations, from veteran Venezuelan lead singer Carlos “Pachanga” Penya, to the youngest band members like London’s rising jazz trumpet star Olivia Cuttill, and Brazilian saxophonist Gustavo Andrade. They have performed at prestigious festivals and venues around the UK including Glastonbury and Manchester Jazz Festival, Band On The Wall (Manchester), Cadogan Hall (London) and The Jazz Bar (Edinburgh).
Launching their debut album ¡Apuntalo! at the Howard Assembly Room ahead of their UK tour, they will be joined on stage by guest Cuban singer Claritzel Miyares, plus Marie-Claire and Leandro from Sabroso Dance Company, who will be jamming on stage with the band.
In partnership with DJ Lubi.
