Come and Sing: Fauré Requiem - Participant Tickets

Thursday 25 February 2027

Book Now

Join us to perform Fauré’s Requiem (Op. 48) and Cantique de Jean Racine (Op. 11) as part of a massed choir, sitting in the auditorium of Leeds Grand Theatre, accompanied by the Orchestra and Chorus of Opera North and soloists.

Opera North’s Chorus Master, Tony Kraus, will be our conductor for the event. The afternoon will include a piano rehearsal with the Chorus of Opera North and a tutti rehearsal with the Orchestra and Chorus of Opera North, culminating in a final public performance in the evening.

You don’t need to be an experienced choral singer to take part, but you do need to be able to read a music score or be able to pick up music by ear and follow along with a score.

Please note:

  • You will need to bring your own vocal score with you on the day. We would recommend using either the Novello or Bärenreiter vocal scores for the Fauré Requiem (Op.48) – please note we will be performing the full orchestral version of 1900. For the Cantique de Jean Racine (Op. 11) we would recommend the Oxford University Press edition.
  • The Requiem will be performed in Latin and the Cantique de Jean Racine will be performed in French. We will provide an online French pronunciation guide nearer the time on the website – please stay tuned for further updates

Participant seating for the event is unreserved. Participants will be sat in groups according to their voice part and will be shown where to sit in the Stalls on the day. If you require wheelchair access or have any other Access requirements, please contact boxoffice@operanorth.co.uk before booking a ticket.
