The Icelandic string group amiina cut their teeth as Sigur Rós’ string section for over a decade.
Since establishing the band independently, they have developed a sound based on sweeping melody and open-minded instrumentation, becoming progressively more rugged as they have matured.
Here they perform their haunting live soundtrack to a screening of Juve Contre Fantômas, one of the 1913 Fantômas silent film series. Their score enhances the eerie darkness in Louis Feuillade’s classic thriller, suspensefully building a delicate structure of pounding rhythms and electronics that explores the meeting points of contemporary classical, electronic and pop composition.
’gorgeous textures, smart leitmotifs, intricate details and [an] underlying aura of mystery. Quietly spooktacular.’
