Brahms' Clarinet Trio

Kirklees Chamber Series

Brahms was contemplating retirement when a performance by the German clarinettist Richard Mühlfeld renewed his passion for music, and he responded with this Trio.

With the introspection and poise of the composer’s later years, its glorious melodic lines and masterly interplay — particularly with the cello — testify to the inspirational power of his muse, whom he called ‘the nightingale of the orchestra’.
