Embark on a musical adventure with the Orchestra of Opera North aboard the Hippodrome Express, celebrating the 200th anniversary of the Stockton to Darlington railway.
The orchestra will perform a captivating program inspired by the railway’s legacy. Enjoy Villa-Lobos’s The Little Train of Caipira, Aaron Copland’s stirring fantasy John Henry and the music from Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake.
The evening will also feature a brand-new piece created by Darlo Creates participants from local schools, honouring the railway anniversary. Additionally, the Darlington community-written “Song of the Skerne” – a heartfelt tribute to the local river – will also be performed.
Co-produced with Orchestras Live in partnership with Durham Music Service, this event promises a truly memorable experience.
