The phrase ‘Black Widow’ was coined by tabloids after the tragic overdose deaths of her two high-profile collaborators: Michael Jackson and Prince. The term became a weapon used by internet trolls to attack the acclaimed artist, sparking conspiracy theories and shaming campaigns. Luckily, a year into the pandemic, Hill found the time and space for a momentous reckoning during which she discovered the courage and strength to face what had happened and to explore it through music.
The new stories of discovery, resistance, and redemption on this album are all grounded in Hill’s unshakable soul and funk foundations.
