Elgar's Violin Concerto

Thursday 9 February 2023

This event has passed.

Nielsen takes a comedic look at ‘the four temperaments’ in his Second Symphony, based on the psychological theory that there are four fundamental personality types: optimistic, irritable, analytical, and relaxed. Which movement most reflects your personality?

Garry Walker takes the podium to follow up last season’s Enigma Variations with another of Elgar’s enduring mysteries: his Violin Concerto opens with an unfinished dedication, leaving us to speculate who inspired this haunting work. Mexican-American violinist Elena Urioste returns as soloist.
