Reflections on La voix humaine

This event has passed.

A woman lingers in a hotel room, waiting for her lover to return to her. When he arrives long after dusk, he’s completely silent. In the silence she reflects on her relationship, and the true cost of love.

Take your seat on the stage of the Courtyard Theatre, look out into the auditorium and witness actors and musicians explore themes of love, loss and longing through words both spoken and sung, and music from the sitar.

Featuring breathtaking Indian classical music performances by vocalist Keertan Kaur Rehal (Resonance) and award-winning sitarist Jasdeep Singh Degun (Arya). This is a contemporary reflection on Poulenc’s La voix humaine and can be enjoyed either alongside the original piece or independently.

Reflections on La voix humaine is part of Connecting Voices, a collaboration between Leeds Playhouse and Opera North bringing together a collection of new and classic work celebrating the power of the human voice. You can enjoy one event or book for all six, tickets will be limited and information will be shared with bookers about changes we have implemented to make the theatre experience safe according to government advice and Covid-19 guidelines.
