SAA-uk presents: The Warsi Brothers

Aga Khan Music Patron's Award for 2025

Sunday 19 April 2026

South Asian Arts, Indian classical

This event has passed.

A vibrant, centuries‑old tradition of devotional Sufi music, performed by the acclaimed Warsi Brothers.

The Warsi Brothers, Naseer and Nazeer Ahmed Khan Warsi, are leading custodians of qawwali – a form of Sufi devotional music that blends powerful vocals, rhythmic clapping, harmonium, and tabla to create an ecstatic, spiritual experience. Trained by their grandfather Padma Shri Aziz Ahmad Khan Warsi and tracing their lineage to the 14th‑century poet‑musician Amir Khusrau, they represent the Delhi Gharana’s classical rigor and depth.

Based in Hyderabad, the duo continues a family legacy that once served the Nizam’s court and still performs shrine services, preserving Khusrau’s repertoire. Since the 1990s they have appeared at major festivals across India and abroad, sharing this 700‑year‑old tradition with new audiences while mentoring the next generation of qawwali singers.

In partnership with South Asian Arts-uk (SAA-uk).
