For the third year in succession, the Howard Assembly Room presents a concert commemorating Holocaust Memorial Day, which this year has the theme Fragility of Freedom.

Pianist and Leeds Lieder director Joseph Middleton, together with baritone Simon Wallfisch, perform a hand-picked selection of songs by composers murdered in the holocaust, including Viktor Ullmann, Pavel Haas, Ilse Weber and Carlos Taube, with diary entries by Ullmann and Gonda Redlich. Joseph comments, “I’m really pleased that Simon Wallfisch can do this recital. He’s the perfect singer for this concert… It will be thoughtful and sensitive and challenging.”

In association with the University of Leeds.
