Support Melodic Memories
We believe that no one should miss out on the transformative power of music. Join us in our mission to make music accessible for all, support Melodic Memories today!
Running since 2021, Melodic Memories offers a programme of music-based arts activities for people living with dementia and their carers. It provides a relaxed, supportive and welcoming space for them to explore singing, gentle movement and elements of visual arts together. Session content will draw inspiration both from the work of Opera North (including an Opera North Relaxed Performance each season) and the interests of participants themselves.
Led by vocal animateur Marie Claire Breen, pianist Leighton Jones, and occasional guest artists – including musicians from the Orchestra of Opera North – workshops take place on a monthly basis at the Howard Opera Centre in Leeds.
All sessions include refreshments.
This project is run in partnership with Leeds Peer Support and participation is via an initial referral through their service.
Please contact Debbie Marshall, Peer Support Co-ordinator at Deborah.Marshall@leeds.gov.uk or 07891 271980 if you would like to proceed with a referral.
All workshop dates will be communicated via Leeds Peer Support. There is a small administrative fee charged by Leeds Peer Support to support the running of the programme.
If you have any further questions about our Melodic Memories programme, please contact Claire Armour, Community Engagement Producer at lifelonglearning@operanorth.co.uk
