Howard Assembly Room & DJ Lubi Present VIVA SALSA.

On Saturday 1st November, Howard Assembly Room teams up with legendary Leeds salsa DJ Lubi Jovanovic to host a vibrant salsa dance social. After years of successful Latin music concerts, this event responds directly to dancers’ requests for a dedicated salsa night at the venue. The evening promises an exciting mix of music and dance, featuring three top salsa DJs from across the north of England.

The night kicks off with an all-levels salsa dance class led by Leandro Russo from Sabroso Dance Academy at 7:45pm. Due to the popularity of previous Night in Havana events, this class is strictly limited to 50 participants. The main dance social runs from 8:30pm to 12:30am, with DJs spinning an incredible selection of salsa music spanning decades and regions – from 1970s classics to contemporary sounds from Puerto Rico, Cuba, Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Africa, Japan and beyond. The lineup includes DJ Lubi, Dr Salsa, and DJ Jane Salsaldi, bringing almost a century of combined DJ experience to the dancefloor.

Tickets are available in two options: a £12.50* ticket including the dance class and main party, or a £10* ticket for the dance social from 8:30pm. The venue opens at 7pm, with a curfew at 1am. This is a unique opportunity to dance to some of the best Latin music DJs in the UK, set in the beautiful Howard Assembly Room.

DJ Lubi – UK salsa legend, the godfather of Leeds salsa since the 80s/90s, international salsa congress DJ, salsa compilation album curator, promoter of legendary Leeds salsa nights Casa Latina/Salsoul/Calle Ocho Leeds.

Dr Salsa – pioneer of the Scottish salsa scene in the 1990s as promoter/DJ/dance teacher, partner in the Scottish Salsa Congress, top UK salsa DJ, co-resident DJ at Calle Ocho Leeds, promoter Sabor y Salsa (Tadcaster).

DJ Jane Salsaldi – Manchester DJ running her Salsaldi parties since 2009, resident salsa DJ across the Revolucion De Cuba venues (Manchester, Liverpool, Nottingham), promoter Salsaldi At The Legion (Wilmslow) for 16 years
