In this magical musical retelling of Charles Dickens’ much-loved ‘Ghost Story of Christmas’, eight carol singers and a narrator give voice to the story of the redemption of Ebenezer Scrooge, a miserly man of business whose life is changed for good one icy Christmas Eve by a succession of ghostly visitations.

Acclaimed playwright David Simpatico’s adaptation of A Christmas Carol features Dickens’ original words interspersed with Will Todd’s exquisite arrangements of traditional Victorian carols. Featuring members of the Chorus of Opera North accompanied by a small instrumental ensemble, this new production by PJ Harris (Simon Boccanegra) is specially conceived for the intimate splendour of the Victorian Howard Assembly Room.
