The Bad Plus return for their final tour, marking the end of a 25-year career as one of the most influential and adventurous ensembles in modern jazz.
Founded in 2000, the group has spent a quarter of a century pushing the boundaries of the genre. Founders Reid Anderson and Dave King have built a reputation for a fearless approach to composition, famously pairing original works with an unconventional array of covers. Their repertoire has reached far beyond the traditional jazz bubble, spanning everything from Ornette Coleman and Cole Porter to Black Sabbath, Aphex Twin, and Nirvana.
This eclecticism was never about irony – instead, it served as a way to find new modes of expression, staying true to the dauntless spirit of the jazz tradition. Their 2003 breakthrough album, These Are Vistas, was named one of the 50 most important recordings of the decade by NPR’s All Songs Considered.
Now on their 18th album, the band continues to produce music that is wild and unexpected. The 2026 Farewell Tour serves as a career-spanning celebration of the innovation and spirit that defined the group. These performances offer a final opportunity to experience a band that consistently refused to conform to convention.
