Opera North Venue Hire

Forget boring, corporate venue hire and try a venue that’s part of the cultural and historical heart of Leeds.

We’re located in the heart of city too, just 10 minutes from the bus station and 15 minutes from the train station. Our flagship space, the Howard Assembly Room, is a lovingly restored 330-seat music venue and former cinema with spectacular architecture (look up!). Other spaces include the connecting atrium and bar, plus versatile, purpose-built studios.

Your requirements are like our spaces: unique. We don’t take a ‘one size fits all’ approach. Whether you’re hosting a conference, meeting, performance or party, we listen to your needs and adapt to find flexible solutions for your event and budget, with support from our hospitality, Box Office and marketing teams where required.

The HAR auditorium

A beautiful auditorium which can be adapted to multiple formats, accommodating up to 330 seated or 450 standing. Suitable for a wide range of uses including conferences, exhibitions, performances or dinners.

Purpose-built studios specifically designed for rehearsal and performance, and able to accommodate a full orchestra.

Your support

When you hire our spaces, you’re supporting the work of Opera North as a registered charity. Rooted in Leeds and touring the North, we use music and opera to entertain, engage, educate, challenge and inspire. In 2024/25 we performed to over 100,000 people in 32 locations, including 19 audio-described, BSL interpreted and relaxed performances to ensure more people can access our shows. We also delivered 8,093 education sessions, and music and singing lessons for 3,300 local children every week.
